12 South Theatre Company (12ST) is Cuth’s resident drama society! It is also a Durham Student Theatre (DST) theatre company, which means any student at any college can get involved in our shows. We aim to present one DST-wide show a term, plus additional college-based events like the annual pantomime.
12ST specialises in dark contemporary comedies and dramas. Previous productions have included Birdland (2019), The Pillowman (2018) and Abigail’s Party (2016). 12ST has also seen success at the National Student Drama Festival (NSDF) with The Events (2018). Previous college-based productions have included pantomimes like Snow White, Cinderella and Jack and the BNOC, and a 24-hour musical charity production of Grease.
Within 12ST, there are opportunities for directors, producers, technical directors and actors – no prior experience is needed, just enthusiasm and creativity.
Taking part in any university-wide 12ST productions requires Durham Student Theatre (DST) membership, which is £10 a year or £25 for life. This also entitles you to be part of any other DST shows with any theatre company/society! To take part in Cuth’s only events like the college pantomime, all you need to pay is the standard JCR levy.
