Cuth's JCR hosts numerous events throughout the year. Below are some of the events we usually run!
The Michaelmas Ball
The Michaelmas Ball is traditionally held at the end of the Michaelmas Term in a beautiful North-East location and is your chance to dress to impress. With a top-quality dinner, great entertainment, and headline acts (and Cuth's DJs!) providing the soundtrack, this is an event not to be missed.
The Feast of St Cuthbert is a tradition that first started in 1969 as a celebration of our college’s namesake and the members of St Cuthbert’s Society. Held in college and heavily themed, the Feast usually consists of a four course meal, live music, fairground rides, food stalls and other attractions.
As if one ball was not enough, a recent addition to the Cuth’s calendar is the Summer Ball . It is held at the beginning of June as a perfect way to celebrate the end of exams. Similar to Michaelmas Ball, the night offers a three course meal at one of the many beautiful locations surrounding Durham, as well as lots of fun entertainment to take you late into the night!
Cuth's Day is a full day event that sees past and present students flock to the Bailey to enjoy the end of exams and the start of summer. A stage is traditionally erected in the centre of House 12’s garden which has played host to acoustic soloists, university bands and professional tribute acts. The rest of the Bailey gardens are themed and usually house numerous inflatable entertainments, multiple food stalls, face painters and much more!
